I believe David was a man after God’s own heart because he was passionate about what God was passionate about. Check this out:
Psalm 26:8 I love the house where you live, O LORD, the place where your glory dwells.
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Psalm 36:7-8 How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
Psalm 84:10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Psalm 92:12-13 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
Love is a decision not an emotion. I don’t believe we have love as default. It’s a decision and we have to aim towards that place where our love is so strong that we will not have to keep on learning to love His house (His church) over and over again.
