Yesterday we had our very first Men's Night out. In case you missed it, it was awesome! And the journey hasn't even started yet. There will be plenty of surprises along the way.
Last night's highlights
The food was superb (Well done Wanja!). If you haven't been to CW's yet pop in for some delicious take away or book your table here as there is high demand and tables are limited. Yes, the food is that good!
We had the girl's from King's Daughters serving the men. The girls were all dressed up and brought so much life and glamour to the whole evening. What a treat! By the way, if you really love the women in your world make sure you buy them a ticket to the King's Daughters Conference. I cannot emphasise enough how important this event is. This will definitely be the experience of a life time for the girls.
I can honestly say that the men I met were amongst the finest men I have ever met. Everyone was so full of life and polite. I so look forward to get to know everyone better!
The Message
The night flew by and I realised that it was time for a short talk. I must say I didn't realise how late it was as we usually finish by 9 on Tuesdays. Here is the essence of what we spoke about plus a little more.
- Solomon, the wisest (and richest man) who has ever lived once said in Proverbs 21:5, Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. Therefore Plan + Hard Work = Prosperity. Sorry but there's no quick and easy, get rich in seven days plan!
- We measure success not by what we accomplished but by what we said we were going to accomplish.
- Setting implementable deadlines and real achievable numbers to what we said we are going to do will produce the results we look for. Success is just the compounding effect.
- Our purpose is to be successful in every area of life. Success in our career only is not real success. what about our family, friends, community etc?
- Purpose gives us meaning for our lives. Vision drives it forward. We inspire both at D7 Men through our weekly meeting and our monthly and annual events.
- We are currently being accountable 5 areas:
1) our GOD
2) our WIFE
3) our CHILDREN
4) our COMMUNITY
5) our JOB
- We want to make every area work! there is no point in having career success and lose your wife, children or friends along the way.
- God should be the centre of what we do not just another item on our list.
The life changing bit
One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43
When it came to your life on earth you weren't given the right to vote. you didn't get to chose your gender, place of birth, siblings etc. But here is the thing: when it comes to life after death, you were and that sounds like a good deal to me!
From reading the interaction the two thieves had with Jesus you can clearly see that one good choice offsets a thousand bad ones here on earth. When you mock Him, Jesus will love you enough to let you. When you pray, Jesus will love you enough to save you. Jesus allows our mistakes to be lost in His perfect love for us. Isn't that incredible.
Jesus said in John 1:12 that "to all who did receive him, to those who
believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."
What about you have you voted? What are you waiting for? Take the above step by just opening your mouth and saying: "Jesus, I believe in you and receive you in my life!" as simple as that. If you have done that for the first time please contact me, I want to hear form you.
Thanks you all for making last night's event so successful!
